This day-long falseworkshop offers participants the opportunity to delve into the precipitants and meaning of the Russian Revolution of October 1917, approaching it as more than a grand historic event, as a scene of aesthetic and political education that extends from and to times and spaces not enclosed in the event itself. This day of community study features discussions and on-site close readings of select historical, philosophical, literary, and artistic accounts pertaining to the October Revolution, led by various members of the Hic Rosa Collective (hicrosa dot org) and invited guests, including: Asma Abbas (Bard College at Simon’s Rock), Julia Alekseyeva (author of The Soviet Daughter: a Graphic Revolution), Bill Dixon (Bard College), Marcel Garbos (Harvard University), Jacqueline Rowley (Big Noise Films), Sara Mugridge (Falsework School), Daniel Neilson (Bard College at Simon’s Rock), Alana Pagano (Hic Rosa Collective), Gabriel Salgado (University of Pennsylvania ), and others.
Materials will be provided by Falsework School, and do not require advance preparation. Registration is required in order to attend, and there is an option for remote participation as well. Coffee and lunch will be provided, and Falsework School will close the day with a small reception at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 5:30 pm (with the option to stay on for dinner in a large group, which is not included in the Falseworkshop registration).
Registration Fee: $75; sliding-scale and students: $35; virtual participation: $20.
